Digital Wellbeing & Screen Time Control

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 2026

Welcome to Limitly. This Privacy Policy describes how Limitly ("we", "our", or "the App") handles your data. We are fully committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information remains safe, secure, and entirely under your control.

1. Our Privacy Philosophy

Limitly is built with a privacy-first architecture. We believe your digital habits and screen usage are entirely your business. As a result:

2. Android System Permissions & Data Usage

To function as an effective screen-limiting tool, Limitly requests specific advanced system permissions. Below is an explicit explanation of why these permissions are needed and how the data is handled:

Package Usage Stats (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)

This is used to determine which application is currently in the foreground and to calculate your daily usage duration for specified apps. This data never leaves your device and is only checked locally by our background service to enforce your limits.

System Alert Window (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)

This overlay permission is required to draw the block banner over the screen when an app's designated daily time limit is exceeded, preventing further interaction.

Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES)

To allow you to select which applications you want to track or restrict, Limitly must query the list of installed applications on your device. This list is kept completely on-device and is never shared or transmitted.

Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE & SPECIAL_USE)

Our background service monitors app limit intervals seamlessly. We register this service under the "Special Use" category specifically for real-time digital wellbeing tracking.

3. Third-Party Services & API Integration

To help motivate you to stay off restricted apps, Limitly uses an artificial intelligence API (such as Claude API) to generate unique, personalized blocking and motivational messages when you hit your limits.

4. Data Retention

Because all configuration data (such as your designated block lists, custom schedules, and daily accumulated limits) is stored locally using standard device preferences (Preferences/Local Storage), deleting or clearing Limitly's app data via your Android System Settings will instantly and permanently erase all saved preferences and usage logs.

5. Children's Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. Parents or guardians utilize our local overlay features to assist with family screen time management, and no children's usage profiles are transmitted online.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be made available by publishing the new policy directly inside the App or on our Play Store distribution channels.

7. Contact & Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic. If you have any questions, feedback, or concerns regarding your privacy while using Limitly, please contact us at:
